A former city councilor is pleased his idea of a plaque honouring city workers killed or hurt on the job will be mounted outside city hall.
However, Larry Hebert wondered if there will be a ceremony every year at the site.
“Is it possible if that does happen, that the names you have could be read out? And it’s always good someone might say my father or my mother worked here and died on the job, can you add their name to the list.”
However, a compelling question from Councilor Rebecca Johnson put city staff on the spot concerning the price tag.
“You’re telling me it’s going to cost $10,000 for a…plaque??”
City staff responded the money pays for installation and engraving.
The plaque discussion will come up in next year’s budget.
