Former U.S. President George H. W. Bush has died at the age of 94.
A statement from his office says he passed away just after nine o’clock last night Eastern Time.

Officials have not published the cause of his death, and say they’ll announce funeral arrangements soon.
His son former President George W. Bush says he lived a remarkable life, adding his family is grateful for everyone’s condolences after his death.

Those include President Donald Trump, who in a statement says Bush inspired generations of people to serve their country.

Former President Barack Obama is also paying tribute, praising Bush for what he calls his “steady, diplomatic” approach to matters like the Cold War.

George H.W. Bush served in the White House as Vice President from 1981 to 1989, then as President from 1989 to 1993.
