Almost two million dollars is being sought in a civil lawsuit by the former Thunder Bay Crown Attorney Dan Mitchell against the province of Ontario.
Mitchell wants it for what he calls an unfair dismissal that caused him mental distress and damage to his reputation.
In Ontario Supeior Court of Justice files obtained by Acadia News, Mitchell alleges he was unnecessarily suspended pending an investigation into sexual harassment and general harassment complaints from 2014, 2016, and 2017 involving a younger female lawyer working in the Crown Attorney office.
The Attorney General’s office in June of last year told our newsroom Mitchell was on paid leave that wasn’t criminal but a Human Resources matter. You can read that story HERE.
Mitchell spent 28 years as the Crown Attorney for Thunder Bay.
The Ministry of the Attorney General responded saying they won’t comment on the matter. (File photo)
