The NorWest Community Health Centre is joining up with the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Awareness Committee to help people better understand FASD and to deal with it.
The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder annual training event is today from 8:30 until 4:30 at the Victoria Inn.
FASD is a term used to describe the harmful affects alcohol plays on an unborn child with some affects that are not curable.
It’s estimated that at least 300,000 people in Canada have FASD.
People with FASD often have difficulties with learning, memory, attention, and problem solving and that can lead to mental illness, criminal behaviour, early school drop-out and poverty.
