As of this Friday at 6 pm The Fort William First Nation will be shutting its border to non-residents.
Chief Peter Collins explains it is an attempt to keep the COVID-19 virus from coming into the community.
“It’s a very challenging time for us and I know…we haven’t had any cases in Fort William…and we want to keep it that way,” says Collins.
The First Nation chief adds all retail outlets in the community also must close.
Chief Collins adds, ” The Mission Road security checkpoint will be moved to Bannon’s Gas Bar, the intersection of Mountain Road and the intersection of Chippewa Road. “
