Officials in Neskatanga First Nation want the federal government to provide clean bottled water until their water treatment plant is finished.
The community declared a state of emergency on Saturday and has been under a boil water advisory for over 25 years.
They say they’re raising the alarm because their water treatment facility is far from usable, even though the plant was originally supposed to be finished last May.
The community says it’s also ended its contract with the firm hired to build the water treatment plant.
Neskatanga First Nation is around 270 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay.
