Companies wanted to set up cannabis stores in Ontario can now apply.
Rules around the lottery to select the first 25 licenses were made public only last week.
Applications are being accepted until this Wednesday at 11 Central time.
Winning applicants will be announced by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission this Friday.
They will still need to pay a $6,000 non-refundable fee and acquire a $50,000 line of credit before they can open in April.
As Acadia News reported last week, just two of the licenses will be for stores in northern Ontario.
None will be set up in communities with 50,000 people or less.
