Voter Information Cards will be back in use for the next federal election.
Their return was contained as part of several election act changes that received Royal Assent just before MPs took their Christmas break.
The cards had been used as a source of identification for voters before being eliminated by the Conservatives prior to the 2015 election
The changes also allow for expanded advance polling hours and the use of mobile poll in remote and isolated communities.
The federal election is scheduled to take place in October.
