December was four degrees warmer than normal.
Environment Canada’s Peter Kimbell tells us the mean temperature came in at -7.7 compared to the normal of -11.6.
“Last year in December, the temperature got colder than -30 three times. We haven’t had that once yet this December, so that’s reflected on the warmer-than-normal temperatures.”
Environment Canada tells us the snow we saw was nothing record breaking.
We received 37.5 centimetres of snow, which Kimbell says is exactly what’s considered normal for December.
