The NDP are critical of the provincial government’s plans to start up only 25 cannabis stores next year.
Leader Andrea Horwath says such a limited start up will just drive people to seek other sources for their marijuana.
“That will mean that there will still be people accessing illegal cannabis through illegal channels, and that was one of the reasons for the legalisation of cannabis in the first place.”
Horwath says the Ford Government plan is even less ambitious than the previous Liberal government, which had planned to launch 40 cannabis stores.
