Shebandowan now has enhanced 911 service.
It means people using landlines and cell phones in their community can dial 911 for an emergency situation.
Officials note the move to a 911 service means the multiple emergency numbers the community once had to dial are now a thing of the past.
The enhanced 911 is going to provide a quicker emergency response to anyone in the Shebandowan area.
In the past, residents couldn’t dial 911 from a landline and when they called from a mobile phone it would sometimes take up to 15minutes to dispatch help to someone because they didn’t know where the caller was.
The service came into effect last week.
