The police have been under the microscope by the Office of the Independent Police Review Director for two years.
The office has been looking into “police policies, practices and attitudes regarding missing person and death investigations involving Indigenous Peoples.”
It was a wide ranging review looking at whether those investigations have been done in a discriminatory way.
That investigation also reviewed the recommendations of the coroner’s jury into the deaths of seven Indigenous youths.
As well it looked at the findings of ongoing OIPRD reviews into how police conducted an investigation into the death of Stacey DeBungee, and allegations of racist comments posted on the Internet by Thunder Bay Police officers.
Part of the probe involved a public meeting in the city a year ago.
The final report is being released a week from today at the DaVinci Centre at 11AM.
