There’s a new team coming to the NHL. No, it’s not in Canada but not too far off. Commish Gary Bettman confirmed today that Seattle, Washington, will be home to the NHL’s 32nd franchise.
This is interesting, the ownership team includes Hollywood Super-Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind “Top Gun”, “Armageddon”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” and many more. “Mr. Blockbuster” is known for big explosions in his movies. I can only imagine that his teams games will have insane pyro.
The team is going to hit the ice in the 2021 – 22 season. With Seattle in the mix, the Western Conference will now have 16 teams to match the East. I’m sure there will be a natural rivalry with Vancouver too. Fun Fact: Seattle was the first American City to ever win the Stanley Cup! The Seattle Metropolitans hoisted Lord Stanley just over a century ago in 1917.
