Work towards a new provincial forestry strategy is underway.
Natural Resources and Forestry Minister John Yakabuski has started round-table discussions on a new forestry plan for the province.
Yakabuski says the industry has been neglected for far too long.
He says under the Liberal government, the forest sector lost 51,000 jobs.
There will be consultations in Kenora and Thunder Bay in the new year.
Yakabuski says their plan will help local communities grow and strive.
