Hydro One says it will begin holding public consultations early in the new year on a new transmission line from Thunder Bay to Atikokan.
The utility has received permission to start the preliminary design on the line that will eventually run through Dryden to the Ontario-Manitoba boundary.
Spokesperson Andrew Spencer says the exact route hasn’t been finalized.
Spencer says every alternative has some different factors to it, so they need to study all options, and their impacts on landowners, communities, scheduling and costs.
He adds by beginning work now on early engineering and environmental assessments, it gives them a great head start to begin construction in early 2020.
