It’s the 20th year for the Parade of Lights, and this year organizers have big fundraising goals.
Spokesperson Greg Stephenson tells us they’re launching a campaign called 20-20-20.
They’re encouraging you to donate $20 for the 20th year, Stephenson explains.
“We’re hoping to raise $20,000 prior to the beginning of the parade.”
Stephenson tells us they’ve set up a GoFundMe account this year which allows them to accept donations by credit card.
The fundraiser parade is taking place at 7:00 PM on December 1st, starting from Manitoulin’s yard and continuing to the Intercity area.
This year, organizers say part of the route will be deemed a “sensory-friendly” section.
It will be a stretch of Fort William Road between Queen Street and Water Street near the end of the parade.
“We’re encouraging people not to honk their horns, so if anybody is bothered by that we certainly encourage them to attend there, and we’ll try to keep the noise at least to a minimum.”
