One-on-one training will soon be available for those wanting a trades apprenticeship in our province, something Thunder Bay’s Chamber of Commerce claims is long overdue.
President Charla Robinson says she’s not too crazy about the current system.
Robinson notes for years the requirement has been four teachers, or journeymen needed to train every two students.
Robinson says right now, many smaller communities, like Ignace and Nipigon, don’t have enough instructors to help new apprentices.
She believes the change will give more apprentices the training they need and better chances to find work in our region.
