I like voting. Of course there’s the part about supporting the candidates that you want to see in office, but there’s other things I like about it as well. I like going to the polls. If it’s in a school, it brings back that nostalgic feeling of being a kid. If you’re really lucky, it’s at a school some of your friends went to and you can snap an embarrassing pic of them from the grad photos on the wall. I like going to the booth and secretly casting my ballot. It makes you feel important and, a little sneaky. I’m also a fan of the idle chatter with people in line or working at the stations. Plus I always feel accomplished on the way out, which isn’t usually the case on a Monday morning. It’s cool that our city is embracing online and telephone voting, but I think I’ll always be voting in person. After-all, every election needs a weird dude taking pictures of pictures, pretending to be a spy in the voting booth, and talking to people who clearly don’t want to talk to him.
