Another tax scam to warn you about.
If you’re being pressured to buy gift cards to pay your taxes, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says don’t do it.
They say the Canada Revenue Agency will never ask you to pay using a pre-paid credit card or gift card.
They say this scam is often conducted over the phone or through email, and note that tax officials never send emails with details about your tax refund or e-transfer payments.
The CAFC says to contact police if you suspect you’re being targeted by scammers.
If you’ve given your information to scammers, they say to contact your bank. (Staff Photo)
